We at Orbis, Law and Patent Office, are an active team of likeminded lawyers and patent attorneys.

The main focus of our services is a comprehensive and integrated legal support of companies and individuals in the sphere of intellectual property and IT technologies.

Our services are tailored for manufacturers of various industries, authors, designers and IT developers, R&D engineers, and just geniuses.

Our Office renders a wide range of Patent and Legal Services, such as services in respect of filing and prosecution of patent, trademark and design applications, registration of copyright, copyright in works, both in Ukraine and abroad; as well as legal assistance advice regarding use (licensing, assignment) and protection of IP rights.

We also offer comprehensive legal assistance in IT, and provide legal advise for Internet projects.

Areas of Practice: trademark registration, inventions and utility models patenting, registration of industrial designs, development of intellectual property protection schemes, IT law, drafting licensing, franchising agreements, pre-trial and judicial protection of infringed IP rights.

Experience:  Olena Gupal has practised intellectual property law, copyright law and commercial law since 2002. Prior to joining Orbis, Olena had been engaged with top Ukrainian law and patent firms, and with known foreign law firm. She specializes in patents, industrial designs and trademark registration formalities, as well as in providing comprehensive legal support of IT sector companies, legal support of Start-Up projects at every possible stage of the progress – from an idea to a sale of a business – including the conduct of a due diligence; has extensive experience in the development of schemes regarding to company relations with freelancers and employees; the elaboration of licensing agreements and intellectual property rights assignment agreements. Olena also specializes in protection on infringed IP rights (copyright, trademarks, industrial designs and utility models/inventions), including court proceedings.

Areas of Practice: registration of trademarks in Ukraine and abroad; international registration of trademarks under the Madrid Agreement and Protocol; patenting of industrial designs, utility models, inventions, patenting according to the PCT procedure, assignment of the rights to trademarks and industrial designs

Experience: She has had experience in patenting since 1999. For a long time, she had been engaged with top patent agencies. Furthermore, she had a patenting experience directly related to manufacturing activities, i.e. she managed the department of intellectual property registration at a large confectionery enterprise, and she was a patenting expert of a large alcoholic beverage company.  Her patenting experience covers the protection of the interests of the company not only in Ukraine, but also abroad – in the Baltic States, the United Kingdom, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, Israel, Greece, Australia, China, and the CIS countries.

Areas of Practice: registration of trademarks in Ukraine and abroad; international registration of trademarks under the Madrid Agreement and Protocol, registration of industrial designs, patenting of utility models and inventions, registration of copyright, preparation of objections to preliminary refusal of trademark registration, and participation in appellate proceedings

Experience:Tetiana has had experience working in the area of protection of intellectual property rights since 2002. She started her career as a patent attorney assistant with various Ukrainian agencies, and as a managing intellectual property expert. Tetiana has extensive experience in preparing and submitting applications for trade and service marks, applications for industrial design patents, and in drafting and submitting  motivated objections to preliminary refusals to register trade and service marks.

Education: Kyiv Institute ofIntellectual Property and Law (Master of Intellectual Property, 2005), Kyiv Humanitarian Institute (the Romanic and Germanic Philology,2002)

Language Skills: fluent in Ukrainian, Russian, German and English. French (intermediate).

Areas of Practice: patent search, patenting of inventions and utility models, prosecution of patents on all stages of patenting: from drafting Ukrainian and foreign patent applications to handling opposition cases; assignment of the rights to inventions, utility models.

Experience: Yevgen has had experience in patenting since 2003. Before joining Orbis, Yevgen had been engaged with top patent agencies for 13 years, namely in patenting of inventions and utility models in Ukraine and in accordance to the PCT procedure. His experience covers protection of the IP interests  of leading foreign companies and domestic applicants in Ukraine.

Education: Kyiv Institute of Intellectual Property and Law (Master of Intellectual Property, 2006), Patent and Trademark Attorneys Courses (Intellectual Property Institute), National Technical University of Ukraine “Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” (Diploma in chemical engineering, 1997)
